We build AI agents for small businesses on the North Shore — and we use the same agents to run our own business, a small nursery down the road.
How we got here
In early 2026, we started a small nursery: Ipswich River Growers. Seeds, soil, a few hundred plants, and a full-time job on top of it. No time to answer every DM, post every Monday, track every inventory change.
So we built agents to do it.
By the end of the first season, the nursery was running itself — with us reviewing drafts, approving posts, and pocketing our Saturday mornings instead of spending them on marketplace replies. Customers never noticed the agents. They just got prompt answers and consistent posts.
That’s when people started asking: “Could you do that for my business?”
Ipswich River AI is the answer.

Our ranges are published. No hour-by-hour mystery. You know what you’re paying before we talk.
Local over remote.
We’re a ten-minute drive from most of our clients. Face-to-face when it matters. We show up when something breaks.
No agents where craft matters.
If something you do makes your business special — the cook’s feel for a menu, the owner’s handshake with a regular — we don’t automate it. We protect it.
Who runs this
Ipswich River AI is run by JW Raymond, a software engineer and operator based in Reading, MA. He also runs Ipswich River Growers, a small nursery that serves as the working lab for every pattern we build for clients.
Ipswich River AI is part of Ipswich River Holdings, a lean group of operating businesses experimenting with AI-agent-run operations.
We work with one client at a time in setup and three to five in ongoing retainer. That’s the ceiling. We’d rather do fewer engagements well than many engagements badly.
